What Fitness Goals Will You Achieve in 2016

New Year’s Resolutions

With 2016 underway everyone is talking about their New Year’s resolutions, and as always many of them are health and fitness related; lose weight, eat more healthily, go to the gym, etc, etc. But, can you really expect to stick to such vague resolutions? The answer of course lies somewhere between high unlikely and no!

Setting Goals

So how are you going to set goals that you’re going to stick to? Firstly, be more specific, if the goal is to lose weight, how much do you want to lose and in what timescale? If you set yourself a realistic weight loss target, it will provide a focus and accountability making you much more likely to achieve your goal.

How Are You Going To Lose Weight

Make a plan and be more specific, what exercise are you going to do, when, where and how often? Set a realistic and achievable target. Likewise with your eating, what foods are you going to cut out/cut down on and what are you going to replace them with? Are you going to retain some ‘treats’ and how often are you allowed them? Ultimately, it’s all common sense, if you add detail to your goal of losing weight, you can monitor what you’re doing on a daily basis to ensure you continue to make progress, rather than just hoping it’s working!

Setting a Fitness Challenge

Think about one additional related goal to go alongside your main goal. So if you stick with the theme of weight loss, how about setting yourself a fitness challenge. It stands to reason that if you’re aiming to achieve something you haven’t done before, that you will inevitably be more motivated and focussed in order to achieve it, which will have a positive impact on achieving the main goal of losing weight.

Making 2016 Successful

1)Think about what you want to achieve, 2)Put detail into how you’re going to achieve it, 3)Make yourself accountable and add other related goals that are going to push you harder to achieving your primary goal. I would say good luck, but luck has nothing to do with it! If you want it; plan it and work hard for it and you will achieve it!
