I Want A Personal Trainer

My Story

Probably not your average PT

Hi. I’m Rob. Outdoor enthusiast, punctual to a fault and probably not your average personal trainer.

If you’re looking for sports science jargon and images of buff bods, you’re in the wrong place. But if you’re looking for personal training in Sutton Coldfield that’s enjoyable, fun and gets results, read on…

It all started in 1998. When the internet was shiny and new (I know, I’m showing my age!) and personal trainers didn’t really have websites.

After a sports science degree and a diploma in personal training and sports therapy, I developed a fascination for training programmes. But I love being outdoors, and I wanted to make training accessible outside of the gym.

Over 20 years later, what started as an opportunity has become the best thing I ever did (apart from meeting my lovely wife, of course!).  As it turns out, a lot of you don’t like the gym either, so I get to train in some pretty amazing parks and gardens (aka my outside office).

“I love getting out of bed and going to work. I love seeing my clients and I love being outside (even when it rains). I even like driving from one park to another. And I owe this to my wonderful clients, who indulge me in making sessions fun.”

Rob Whalley

It’s all about you.

Whether you’re an un-motivated beginner or a specialist athlete, it’s your personal goals that are important. You might be surprised how quickly you achieve them (and how fast they develop). But I’ll never tell you what they should be.

I’ve helped marathon runners and post-pregnancy mothers, fun run lovers and post-injury rehabbers, recovering cardiac patients and ‘just get me back into shape’ers.

All we need is your goal, some space and a few pieces of kit (provided by me, of course).

Challenge Accepted

I confess, I do love a challenge. Don’t worry, I’m not going to rope you in (unless you want me to of course!) But I do find that I work harder when I’m training for an event. And if your goal is event-focused, you might even persuade me to sign up.

Past favourites include the London Marathon, climbing Mt Kilimanjaro, the 3 Peaks Challenge in 24 hours and completing the world’s longest obstacle course with 200 obstacles over a course of 20 miles.

In 2022, I’m planning my greatest charity challenge yet; climbing 24 peaks in 24 hours in the Lake District. This challenge is particularly personal, as it’s a tribute to my Dad, who was a keen walker and loved the Lake District. We’re raising money for Kate’s Home Nursing, a local Cotswolds charity who looked after my Dad (and us) at the end.

If you need some (gentle) encouragement to achieve your fitness goals or a cheerleader for your latest challenge, I’d love to chat.
